Lizzie, the $billion is 1/4 of the budget for the UN. Amazing.

It doesn't say. No author given. No name, no position.

The french trying to define the terms of rebuilding the country is unacceptable.
The French on the Security Council is unacceptable.
At this point, the French gov't is unacceptable.

The French, Russians, and Germans, to protect their own economic interests, are clearly willing to tolerate anything or any one. That is unacceptable.

If they block the UN path, then the US finds another road. Tough.

rogue countries can mobilize their hatred towards the US only.
The UN is used by inconsequential tyrants to take shots at the US. That is all it does at this point. It is a meaningless institution that has shot its wad. League of Nations II.

Not that they didn't do that anyway but my belief is that Bush's toppling of the UN will be viewed in retrospect as a dire mistake.
Why?
But leaving Saddam in power to pass control to his even more odious son Uday wouldn't be?

Iraqi soldiers launched a Scud missile attack during the incident, but it is not known whether they are linked. The Scud was shot down by Patriot missile.
