Why would this be a good thing? (The EU collapse specifically)

EU is a sclerotic bureauacracy designed to limit competition between member states. The notion of
a unified Europe is a fiction and is becoming a dangerous
fiction. I have no delusions that France or Germany will undertake economic reforms unless they are confronted by real competition from Russia, Poland, Czeck Republic.

The EU free trade zone will survive but the notion of a unified political and economic entity will fail.

The US tells Israel we don't think its worth the risk to support them any longer except maybe the monetary aid.

I normally simply ignore everyone who takes a one sided view of that conflict. However, I will bend once. The US will take a stand towards Israel much like you suggest. They will also take that stand against Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. You are suggesting Israel commit suicide and that wont happen.

Oh, I forgot to add to my list, the Arab League will collapse as Jordan, Morocco, Qatar, Bharain and others begin to move into the US orbit. The collapse of the Arab League will accelerate other countries moving into the US orbit.

The fact the Bush's critics always ignore is the massive economic power of the US. The military power is needed but not sufficient. It is the economic power which is the transforming force of the next 12 - 18 months.
