He was a dedicated socialist, and was loved by the large labor element that made up the brownshirts. After power was achieved, Hitler ordered the "Night of the Long Knives", and neither Stassar nor the brownshirts ever marched again. The history of Nazi Germany shows that dupes are actually more dangerous than the totalitarian fanatics themselves.
