The Beer Hall Putch happened in Munich in the early 20's, at a time when there was a revolution on every block in Germany. The tiny Nazi party was quickly subdued by the local police, and Hitler was imprisoned for three years in Bavaria (Landesburg Castle). The prison officials were pro-Nazi, and he lived in comfort. He wrote Mein Kampf while there. It was a best seller in Germany, and allowed him to expand the Nazi party in the late 20's, after his release.

It shows the folly of leaving the Saddam Hussein-types alive early in their careers. The West has never adequately learned the lesson...
