The last time I was in Beijing I was the only non-Chinese in the McDonalds...and they were swamped. And to think, not more than 100 meters away was the open market where you could get black scorpion on a stick....and these people were chosing icky McDonald's Hamburgers...I don't get it. Maybe someday these countries that object to what I call American "culture creep" will become secure in their own culture such that they won't feel threatened by a McDonald's restaurant that opens down the street. I am happy with each new restaurant that opens in the neighborhood. We have a decent Chinese restaurant, I very good Indian restaurant, a good Mexican restaurant and a few others within walking distance....and for some reason I just don't get pissed off at the Indians taking over the neighborhood...Mainly, because they are, it is just a restaurant. But, in Silicon Valley, the number of Indians in the biz is certainly not trivial. And yet we welcome them. As far as films go. Since I was in Asia-Pac sales for some time, I am very familiar with the films made in that region. And no doubt, the people in India are going to watch the domestic films. But here's the real question, how many are translated into German or French or English? Do the same test on the ratio of French films that are translated to Indian or Chinese or English. And then compare the ratio of US films that are translated into these various languages. I used to be disgusted, now..... JXM
