SDI has been a huge waste of money. There are no present danger it protects us against. And no one even know if it will ever work. But I do believe we should continue research. Premature deployment however was purely a payoff to defense lobbyists working with Rumsfield. At least 5 billion down the drain this year. Money much better spent somewhere else, like hydrogen technology or paying down the debt.
