It is my understanding they were Republican Guard sent down from Baghdad.Highly trained and loyal compared to the usual Iraqi cannon fodder troops of the regular Army.


Fox also mentioned the inclusion of fedayeen (guerilla) troops, who had also been used to infiltrate the Shi'a uprising in 1991 and help crush it. These are also highly trained troops. The guys shooting at our troops will be in civilian dress, you can count on that.
