>>The way I see it, I am the patriot, and the NeoCons have hijacked my country.<<

Yesterday was a beautiful day, sunny and warm, and the kids wanted to go somewhere and do something.

We decided to see a show of Frank Lloyd Wright's stained glass windows at the Renwick, which is only a block or two from the White House.

We passed a lot of people going to the anti-war rally, and none of them were carrying American flags.

In fact, I bet if we showed up at the rally waving American flags, we'd be sending the message that we support the war.

Don't you think that's so?

"It is Imperialism that is UnAmerican. The idea of imposing our will, by force, on nations all over the planet, is not what Jefferson and Washington and Paine and the rest of the Founding Fathers had in mind. "
No it is self defense and that is very american. "from the halls of montezuma to the shores of tripoli" or dont you remember?"

"My nation has mutated away from the "American ideas", at least as far as our foreign policy, and I want to return them to those ideas. The way I see it, I am the patriot, and the NeoCons have hijacked my country."

I suspect Jacob that it is you who have "mutated away from american ideas". Neocons have not "hijacked your country", they are protecting it for all americans including those like you who are totally naive as to what the real threat to this country are.

I don't have time to properly address this post, but suffice it to say it is difficult to converse with someone who would rather insult than address simple questions.

Perhaps I will get the chance to try later?

PS The way I see it, the defense of America has always counted on the willingness of it's citizens to face the challenges that threaten it's very existence. Many Americans, in fact a majority of Americans, perceive a serious and real threat ready to destroy all of us in a mere moment.

If you wish to sit in your cushy chair denouncing those Americans that is your right, but at least afford those who disagree with you a small measure of understanding and respect for their right to do so.
