We need ‘Churchillian characters’ not docile peaceniks.. Iraq is no Vietnam and Iraqis historically have stabbed people in the back like they did yesterday when they killed 12 marines by pretending to surrender. From the time of the prophet, this characteristic of the Kufans always has been the saddest part of the Islamic history and cause of the greatest schism in Islam. Victory of the coalition and allied forces is near and hopefully the best we drawing room guys can do is not to stab the valiant soldiers by our vicious short-sightedness and undue ridicule. The self-serving aggrandizement of Iraqi blood thirsty war machine and upholding of the tyrannical regime through undue glorification of 'heroics' of Saddam does not qualify him in my sight at least a new Che-Guera or Mao or Ho Chi minh! Those who do it will find to their own peril the error of judgment they commit. Defeatist minds will highlight a chopper down here and a casualty there as a disaster unfolding for Allied forces. But the fact, above the media frenzy fed war, the march towards Baghdad continues uninterrupted. Apache down is a price to pay for greater peace of the world; no one ever said that war is a kids game, however not a single coherent army action let alone on Brigade scale has been witnessed. Saddam was in power with the help of a bunch of thugs, these thugs would try to act as sleeper cells and may disturb our resolve or impact our ability but not affect the outcome. The greatness of a nation is to see in the absolute darkness the ultimate end result, I for one as a global citizen is as much an American as any with a passport or nationality. It is the freedom, democracy and openness that makes a person an American not a passport. Yes I agree global Americans are in short supply but contrast the treatment of the POW’s by Iraqis and the Americans. It is one area that difference can be seen between a global American and roguish regime. The openness of the society where President Bush openly addresses his adversary, and the darkness of the cave from which Saddam addresses his people is another contrast. The ability of embedded correspondents to report from the front line and state orchestrated show of the Iraqis is another sad age to which most of the people who abuse me are unconcerned with. When Basra will fall and when Nasseriya will fall it is of least relevance, it was not even in the plans to capture the cities, the pockets of resistance are a natural outcome of the remaining thugs but the invasion getting near to Baghdad and the termination of the regime whose hands are tainted with blood of millions is most important. The securing of the Rumailah oil fields and his inability to torch his own country resources is another contrast that I would like to highlight. Has the regime not shown its true colour when they tried torch their own oil wells? Is their any doubt remaining why this guy is bad for his own people! My determination and my read on dwindling power of Baghdad and his flushing out is now even more stronger, the resolve of USA is the resolve of every humane loving person, we are part of a global movement of eliminating pocket of terror, appeasement era is all folded, appeasement will make repeat of many a 911’s, these are pockets of uncertainties and if anyone expects mercy form these tyrants in future they are wrong, taking them out facing up to them is what is required it needs big heart, big moral high ground, blood tears and toil is not the game of a faint hearted, it is ‘Churchillian characters’ who display this greatness of vision, ordinary blokes die like rats, it was visionaries like Churchill who saved Europe from reign of tyranny he could have gotten a peace based on his English peninsula, or become a collaborationist lie Marshal Petain, Bush Jr. is a historic character and mark my words he will prove this, his steely resolve and his unbending nature to the demands of these terrorists can only save us from annihilation of terror globally, appeasement of Clinton era we all know resulted in multiplication of these demagogues globally. Blood tears and toil bring happiness for our children lets pray on this difficult time that our soldiers fighting in the heart of most deceitful of tyrannies should not be stabbed from the back by the likes of what we call modern day peaceniks.
