In Vietnam the media helped show the truth thus helping Vietnam defeat the US. There are two wars, one in the global media and another in Iraq. There are common point in between them, but the second one is more complex and subtle. In fact the US operation didn't wait for the end of the diplomatic farce in the UN, which started a month ago, by the time special forces infiltrated in in North South and west of Iraq. Look to the images as a partial selection of reality. Suspect all news. In Iraq there is no real war but a massacre. From Bush's point of view the threat are not the Iraqi armed forces, demoralized and abandoned, but the world's public opinion. Hence the Plan A that consisted in high ranking officers changing sides in the military apparatus and internal security leading to the decomposition of the regime. Plan A already proved a fiasco. Plan B started with the "Shock and Awe" bombardment of Baghdad and is carried out with terrestrial and aerial operations opening the way to Baghdad's doors. There isn't serious combats for territory control. The route to Baghdad is open, flat, desertic and a ideal corridor for the US forces. Try to stop this tanks push would be suicide. Iraqi troops would be mowed down by missiles and ground attack airplanes even before seen by the US advancing forces Sporadic resistance will only day for days the steel wave of the invading forces. But this brief interval has a political meaning: Every day Bush loses a little bit of a war for the "hearts and minds" of the world or even the US itself. Washington still waits for the collapse of the political regime. There are indication that special forces are already in Baghdad sabotaging and defining targets for the next assault or even negotiating with the Iraqis military. Bombs, money and promises. The lion paw and the fox trick. The order is: Try at all costs to avoid Plan C. Plan C is the encirclement of Baghdad followed by its penetration. Geography makes no difference. The city is not the desert.. In the city all cats are gray. The German sunk in Stalingrad, the Russian in Gorzny. Baghdad isn't Stalingrad nor Grozni, because the population doesn't identify Saddam Hussein with their country. But he concentrated the Republican Guard in the city, the only part of the armed forces in modest operational conditions. There can be a real war. Bush isn't prepared for a real war. His forces will win in the military theater of operations, but they will be defeated in the political battle field of the Arab, European and North American cities.
