I think there is more to the tape than we've been shown Oh really? And Rumsfeld shares your clairvoyant talents and that is why he said this was a violation of Geneva Convention? Come on. He said it was a violation because American soldiers were shown on TV and so they were being humiliated and degraded, which is ridiculous. However, if we get proof that men were killed (executed) after capture I hope you'll be as open minded about how WE MAY CHOOSE to treat POW's. First, we already know how the US treats POWs - calling them "illegal combatants" or some such cooked up term that is not recognized by the Geneva Convention, hiding them outside US jurisdiction and hence (they hope) outside the law, and not even convening the competent tribunal demanded by the Geneva Convention to determine their status. So any threats are a little void at this point. Second, from a legal point of view, even if the other side does not respect a convention that both parties signed, this does not absolve the US from respecting the Geneva Convention. Third, if you are really measuring your country's behaviour by that of a brutal dictatorship, you need take a step back and THINK. To answer your question, No, I will NOT be "open-minded" about how the US may choose to treat POWs, regardless of how the Iraqi treats their prisoners. That the other side might be ruthless animals is no reason why YOU should go down to that level. Oh and let us agree that there is no indication yet that they are mistreating prisoners...
