I don't have a problem with the allegation that the administration is practicing imperialism because I perceive that the US has, indeed, become an empire, although not an empire that physically seizes control of other countries' physical space.

Power does corrupt, so it makes us uneasy, but pretending it isn't there won't make it go away.

It's there. We have it. Almost unimaginable power. Certainly power that I could never have imagined when I was a child, and even for most of my adult life.

I don't usually care for Rush Limbaugh, but he said something earlier in the week that I thought might be true, that liberals are ashamed of our power, and want it to go away.

I think it's not just liberals that are ashamed of our power, I think a lot of other people are, as well.

It's a moment of time in history that probably won't last. The Chinese will figure out how to mass produce GPS guided cruise missiles for only a few thousand dollars and everybody will have them soon, but for now we're the Big Kahuna, and it scares even some Americans.
