Haim, The Islamic fundamentalism has been around for centuries. Charles Martel and his Grandbaby, Charlemagne, had to confront it, as did The Eastern Roman Empire. The only reason Communism was worse was because the Russkies beat us into space, had nuclear weapons, had better tanks and didn't like western imperialism, though they seemed to think Russian imperialism wasn't so bad. <g>

Sadly, third world countries are starting to realize that the Red Threat was all that was keeping us out of their business all the time. And, from our point of view, the Russians were notably cheap and forced some discipline on their conquests. For example, they allowed Fidel to send Che to Bolivia, but they wouldn't provide the means for him to win. And they avoided attacking the US directly, which we appreciated. Mutually Assured Destruction was the acronym of an age.

The new terrorists are suicidal, so they will attack us directly. And we can't use our arsenal of wmd on them because they are based in places like Florida and Maine and Wyoming. They mix in. The Russians never mixed. They loved their uniforms and applying the "mass" to enemies.
