I think you have the military confused with the media that is reporting its activities to us. THAT'S where the overconfidence has been committed. This is, after all, their first real-time trip to the broken end of the bottle, and they are stumbling through all the newby pratfalls. That includes, from time to time, losing their nerve and peeing their pants when such a reaction is unwarranted. The military, for it's part, is doing what they were built to do: Kill people and break things-as selectively as possible, but as necessary, and with EXTREME PREJUDICE...
