That's old news, to my understanding it has to do with getting matching funds....self financed campaigns do not qualify....of course the other side could be either he is cheap or his wife wouldn't let him spend the dough..

Using your logic...those matching funds are coming right out of the ssn program.....imagine that...starving old folks just to get elected...

Kerry will be making a big mistake if he takes federal matching funds. Even if he prevails and wins the Democratic nomination, it is going to be expensive and he is going to be limited to spending only $45 million prior to the convention. Look what happened to Bob Dole in 1996. He shot his wad early in 1996 and was pounded by Clinton and unable to respond prior to the summer conventions.
