Pakistani PM to leave for China on Monday AP[ SUNDAY, MARCH 23, 2003 11:15:40 AM ] ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali will travel to China on Monday for a two-day visit to discuss a wide range of issues including the ongoing US-led war on Iraq, the information minister said on Sunday. "It is a very important visit, and Pakistan wants to consult China on some important issue," Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said in Islamabad. The confirmation of Jamali's visit to Beijing came a day after he canceled a state visit to the United States, Britain and France "in deference to the sentiments of the people." Jamali had been scheduled to meet with US President George W Bush on March 28. "Our friendship with China is time tested and we are the friends of all seasons," said Ahmed, who will accompany Jamali on the trip. Pakistan, a longtime ally and neighbor of China, has welcomed the appointment of Hu Jintao as China's new president, saying the friendship between the two countries is "deeper than the ocean and higher than the Himalayan mountain." timesofindia.indiatimes.com
