Soros you confuse me, if not everyone else. You seem to be a cross between Pat Buchanan & Lyndon LaRouche ?
I am very supportive of the decision to Liberate Iraq and to remove Saddam's Regime from power. I am also anti-Abortion as is President Bush. It is not as if those against Abortion are not trying to push for change via our political system. How this makes the War with Iraq immoral, or unjust, in the light of the laws governing abortion - mystifies me ? A bit of an irrelevant stretch & comparison imho.
I agree with you on the borders. I'd put the military on the borders immediately and permanently for Homeland Security issue's, for the control of illegal immigration and as well as enhancing our capabilities on the War on Drugs. I'd also quit playing mamby-pamby with Mexico concerning Drugs...and with the major Drug Producing States such as Colombia - which are exporting WMD's in the form of illegal drugs that cost this country Billions of Dollars each year. I also completely agree with you on the issue of all of the benefit's given to illegals at the expense of American Taxpaying Citizens.
But, in your world; I guess we should NOT act upon the intelligence that we have concerning Saddam's role in the development of a Nuclear Program, his history of manufacturing, distributing and using Chemical & Biologic Weapons etc - untill we make America perfect & address your higher priorities of Abortion & Illegal Immigration ?
Do you think those "priorities" might change if instead of 3,000 dead at the WTC from Sept 11th, the toll becomes 30,000 from a dirty nuke, or 300,000 from biologic's ?
I guess we should just bury our head in the sand, let Saddam finish his nuclear arsenal, let him position his biologics at strategic area's on his border, scuds readied to hit Israel, Saudi, Kuwait etc...and then when's he's good & ready, let him invade another neighbor, seizing control of the Global Oil supply at the margin and send the world economies into a global Depression via an Oil-Shock - while having already strategically planted dirty nukes, or biologics in America and other key global cities, then start lobbing nukes at Israel etc - before we "react" versus "anticipate" ?
And on the issue of Big Brother & surrendering Freedoms ? - what have YOU given up ?
What SPECIFIC Freedom of speech, of movement, of the pursuit of happiness etc - have YOU or ANYONE else here - been forced to give up; by enhanced Homeland Security, or the War on Iraq ?
We have controls on our Freedoms and Rights in our daily lives on an ongoing basis in America.
We have DUI check points on our highways.
You can not own, or possess a handgun in cities such as Chicago, or NYC and must register, or obtain a license/permit in other cities & states.
You have the priviledge, not the "right" to drive an automobile on our highway system - and only with proper insurance & licensing etc.
You must pay TAXES to local, state & the Federal Government.
You must "register, or License" everything from your bicycle, your automobile or handgun, to your dog.
You must pass thru security screening at Court Houses, Library's, Schools etc.
Your children must have certain vaccinations before being permitted to attend school.
You have Drug/Bomb-Sniffing Dogs screening mail at Post Offices, airport baggage and vehicles at Border Crossings.
There has been NO significant infringement of personal freedom from Homeland Security, or the War with Iraq. And I see the "bunker" from which your comments come from, on the issues of the illegal IRS, religion, money, travel, speech etc ...so obviously, there can be no intelligent debate.
You see a vast conspiracy to "dismantle" the Constitution & Bill of Rights, because the FBI is monitoring the Internet via security software....I guess you are unaware at what's been going on down in El Paso for a couple of decades concerning our daily communications ?
Now, if you can show me examples on how this Electronic Security Monitoring that has led to the capture of people like Pablo Escobar and the recent Taliban Leaders has led to Americans being taken from their homes in shackels to the goulags - then you'd have a point...but, obviously this isn't happening and most of these so called "infringements on our rights" have existed to some degree for decades, will no ill effect.
Should we push for laws limiting and restricting how our personal financial, or medical information is accessed ? - yes, of course...but, how this makes the War with Iraq unjust ? - again, I don't follow your reasoning.
America is not perfect and the world is not static...and we undoubtedly are going to face tough decisions and compromises to maintain our core freedoms and security; but to say we are witnessing the destruction of America due to what we are doing via Homeland Security & the War with Iraq is simply ridiculous... |
