Bush I didn't go the extra 24 hours to oust Saddam because of the way he defined 'America's national interests'... and he was clearly delusional.

His administration thought a wounded and diminished Iraqi regime - and the restoration of the undemocratic Kuwaiti Monarchy - was 'good for American interests'.

He won the limited 'tactical' battle, but lost the large 'war' of securing long-term American aims.

He was an idiot, and left a mess behind.
