“If this was about oil, the U.S. should have invaded Canada, because we need a regime change, too.”
- Calgary oil executive; as printed in The Record (Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo),March 22, 2003

Why would they want to, they already control much of the canadian industry without the hassle of ever firing a shot. The same canadian oil execs were more than happy to sell out to US companies, lining their pockets with the the all mighty US dollar.

it was a good read. It makes sense - The regime change or the oil and invasion... ??

Iraqi oil is way cheaper to produce as I reckon it. (OK once the infrastructure is fixed) than our tar sands and without the tar sands what massive reserves do we have that compare ? Heck even seems our Ngas marvels are fizzling lately. I think both the oil and Iraqi peoples freedom are just background noise in this affair though being a cynic.

Incredulous as I find it that I say this I think Wolfowitz was exactly correct after Gulf I. The US should have supported the Kurds then. They likely could have taken out Saddam and we would be less likely to have a Fundamentalist Kurdish Islamic faction now. I always thought they should have finished the job but it's just funny to be agreeing with Wolfowitz.

Regime Change in Canada. Those against that are certainly in the minority on this thread whatever else they believe in ;o)

Should not the character of the falling Iraqi regime have some bearing on the tone of the peace protests? Sure and we should all live in peace and harmony and democracy should be better than just the least bad form of government.
But why should anyone think that it'll be FINALLY done properly this time ? What will be left in place of Saddam ? OTOH anyone going to protect Saddam is nuts. Let's hope my fears are unfounded and it's different this time. It's great to be wrong when you expect the worst and only hope for the best. Please Show me the money...
