Some think having a draft would act as a moderating influence on the Executive. I believe just the opposite - having to depend on volunteers is a terrific reality check.

They ought not complain when too few people volunteer to come forth for the next war.

They may have been tortured, humiliated and executed but our fighting men and women are far from being dishonored.
