Your points (1 & 2) are well founded. Perhaps coupled with the "newness" of CNN arcade-style war at the time, brought to our homes like a pizza, expectations are now set at an unrealistic level. Even Dominoe's eventually had to drop that 30-minutes thing. Eh, the coalition also had a significantly larger force build-up first time 'round (1.5 - 2x?). The record goes down pretty rapidly from GW-I's 100 hours, to that Israeli 6-Day thingie, to &#133 a whole bunch else that took years.
