Resistance Raises Fears for the Endgame

As I watch the war on TV like some macabre, real time video game, increasingly, I'm beginning to wonder about that very concept - endgame. Earlier, I had thought that the US would rather quickly (but not as quick as some) win the war. Then , following a pause of some months, I expected the occupation retaliation to begin. As the retaliation grew, I expected the US to eventually withdraw into a besieged garrison position.

This scenario may still obtain, but given Iraq's guerilla tactics, and given the current sentiment expressed by

One Iraqi PoW told a New York Times reporter that President Saddam had been such a disaster for his country that he must be an American agent.

Another possibility comes to mind. We may see the guerilla phase seamlessly blend into the retaliation phase such that there is no endgame.
