This story is from an embedded Canadian reporter And...? Most of the people are happy to see us Could be correct, if the "us" in question are Canadian journalists. If he is referring to the US Marines as "us", I don't know how he is going to explain the fact that heavy ground fighting continues, and not even the southmost cities are in US control. Now how are the leftists gonna lie about this? I don't think gross generalizations of every comment contrary to your view as "lies" or their proponents as "lefties" help your position in any way.
