Re Baghdad assault:
Comments about being bogged down do not apply to the 3 d infantry. They have made the best progress of all
and will have to wait a bit for others to catch up. Iraqis can know only what they can glean from journalists
if they have a TV. So I hope there is some if not a lot of disinformation involved
The intent IMO is to create a ring of fire perhaps 40 miles out when other units get into position, then squeeze the vice in a fast steady assault while air strikes devastate the enemy. If this sounds cruel it has been and still is their choice. Raise a white flag or the desert will run red
The interesting part comes when whatever is left of the Republican Guard starts trying to retreat into the city,
when we have 24/7 low level air surveillance and can track them to their destination and reveal the location of their planned final stand.
