If talking about Americans, don't include me in your characterizations..... I am not your "we." M If Congress declares war, we have to have a conclusion. No dicking around like in Korea, Vietnam, and Somalia where the public eventually gets tired and loses the will to continue stupid, wasteful conflicts. If everyone (including you) is put in the same boat with the troops, where if you demonstrate for the enemy or for peace, you could be tried for treason, isn't that the best support for the troops? We don't know the real reason Bush and crew want to invade Iraq. The State Dept and CIA and rest of government tell the sheep what they want the sheep to hear. We still don't know how we got involved in Vietnam, other than that the State Dept favored the French (same race, same religion) vs the Vietnamese (different race, different religion). Congressmen are very eager to avoid responsibility. They just want to be important and powerful now and three years down the road. The resolution to let Bush Jr handle the situation was an easy out. Every congressman should be forced to take a stand on this war. One that he has to live with for the rest of his life. If Iraq is truly a threat to our country, why shouldn't we nuke them? Beats losing thousands of great kids in hundreds of firefights and ambushes. And since we're thinking like Nazis with our blitzkreigs and undeclared wars, if the Muslims' religion and way of life are a threat to America, well, what do we do? Take their land in an updated version of Manifest Destiny? Stick them on reservations? Exterminate them before they exterminate us?
