Your interpretation is without any basis, now or historically. One of the great things about the Democratic Party is that it encompasses a huge variety of ideas, ethnic values, and financial resources. In contrast, the Republicans have always been far more monolithic, as can be seen by the predominance of white male delegates (mostly millionaires) attending their national conventions. The Democratic Party thrives on diversity. The Republican Party insists on adherence to a very narrow economic and philosophic agenda, which turns off a lot of people, including Zionists, who like most people, don't like someone else telling them how to think.
