Well, many reasonable thinkers could differ on that, Brumar! You are correct, however, Nader was a factor. But there were some other ones, and serious ones at that.

Brumar, it is well documented that for several reasons, including people in South Florida voting by mistake for Nader when they thought they were voting for Gore, that Bush lost the Florida popular vote. For a detailed study, see the work of Professor McChesney at the Univ. of Illinois.

I would also recommend that you read Krugman's column in today's New York Times, showing how Republican controlled media assure that their story (and no one else's) gets published.

With control over the media and more money than all the other political parties combined, it is a wonder that the Republicans can lose. However, after the mess they've created on the budget (oh, yes, there is a budget issue, despite the war news), they may have to answer in 2004 if the media isn't totally hornswaggled by then.
