I wonder how long Americans will stand a Palestine in their hands.... Zonder, it's at least ten times worse than Palestine. 1. The population under control is about ten times bigger. 2. The area under control is hundred times bigger at least. 3. There are lots of lethal arms available to everyone. As it is, arms are very common in Iraq. American aircraft will never feel safe landing in Baghdad given the easy availability of shoulder-fired missiles. 4. Given the long borders with Iran and Syria, it will be easy to smuggle in men and material. 5. The Arab world will be the angriest it has been in ages. Many will be willing to be martyred. All the radicals will head to Iraq to take on the US. 6. The Israelis are able to control press coverage to a degree. Any atrocity in Iraq will receive much more attention. 7. Finally the cost of occupation is estimated at $9 billion a month and 250,000 troops. And there will be some US casualties per month. How long will we stand this hemoraging of US blood and treasure? Iraq will be orders of magnitude more challenging than Palestine, IMHO. This invasion is an immense blunder as no doubt Dubya is finding out.
