I think a lot of people are very disappointed by who ends up in the final race. A lot of times, good statesmen are passed over because either they are not photogenic, or they don't appeal to enough of the party's 'base'. I'm a democrat, and I don't consider our parties 'base' to be the wacko environmentalists and huge spenders, just like I'm sure a lot of republicans don't consider their base to be the moral majority and superhawks. But, the parties insist on keeping the US divided into two camps; if a truly moderate platform were to take hold, it might force both the parties out of power.

I have made it my policy to vote for the most qualified third party candidate in the final election, or abstain if I believe none are qualified. I started that with John Anderson. People tell me I'm wasting my vote; I prefer to think of it as voting my conscience.
