Rereading Frum's comment I also see that the attached the hatred to the people not their ideas, always a mistake. So, I think there is a point that needs to be made but Frum failed to make it.

My own thought on that point, Paul, is that Frum should have said, but wouldn't have said, that Novak disagrees with Frum about an invasion of Iraq. It's one step further to say that Novak "hates" Frum's ideas as to what constitutes America. I doubt that's the case but that strikes me as being right on the line as to acceptable. It is a big step over the line to say that Novak "hates" the country.

You must feel as I do at times, that we are only marking a line and our posts don't seem to go anywhere. However, this issue of calling other arguments or opponents "unpatriotic" in a time of war is an exceptionally important issue. I don't think it can be ignored. And I sense you don't either. That's why I welcome this discussion and continue to post about it.
