If we all played cop all day this thread would be useless. Nothing wrong with asking for civility. I consider such comments by the 'vets' to be a good indicator of responsible thread 'ownership' -- a certain thread personality to be safeguarded. When this properly occurs, I don't need to get involved for a change. The secret is though, that you have to trust your threadmates, their suggestions, and their motives -- then it works. --fl

John, why are you always so quick to play policeman on this thread ? Because those generalizations are a step beyond ignorance. Just think how you would feel if the opposite were said for a culture with which you identified. If you consider your assertion to be true, then you need to advance a strong case for it. At the level of your statement, however, that would be difficult, if not impossible to do so. So it's better not to say so. Moreover, I didn't see any way in that post in which your assertion was something like a premise for yet another argument.
