There are probably more US nationals opposed to the attack than there are frenchmen in total, including those frenchmen in favour of it [i'll bet there are some of those, it's just human to apply dissent in varying manner]

As for the way in which US nationals view us, that's not a one-way street ... in each direction there is responsibility on both parties, as well - on the part of the viewee to a degree, sure, but also on the part of the viewer

Your question there brings to mind the classic one - 'Why do they hate us?'
.. the classic response being, 'We don't, and why can't you grab a frickin clue!'
