But JJ, this is exactly what the US is doing, or at least trying to do. Nearly all people here in the US or their ancestors, were from another country in the world before they came here. Except the US has ALL the nations of the world represented in this country. We've been working on it for 400+ years here.

Europe has had centuries to work on getting along. That appears to be perhaps an oxymoron.

It's impossible to force 25 different nations, languages, histories, cultures into a homogeneous block. But would the USA really want a US of Europe? I doubt it.
