I'd hardly call a reference to Bill O'Reilly a "example [chosen] randomly;" as many have been commenting on him over the past few days.

And where O'Reilly says "we expect..." who do you think he believes he's speaking for?

With respect to your assertion that 'supporting the troops' and 'supporting the mission' aren't mutually exclusive sentiments, have a look at this link, which includes (but is not limited to) the following line:
