Jacob - Ok, lets go WW II and more recently:

Hiroshima and Nagasaki (several 100,000) vs Nanking et al (many millions)
Dresden (several hundred thousand) vs holocaust (many millions)
My Lai vs routine slaughtering of villages by the Viet Cong

The left often takes the view that because we do bad things we are just as bad (and in fact worse because we are richer?) as others. Therefore we have no right to act for moral reasons. Imagine that we were to apply that to individuals - if you have committed one sin you forfeit your right to judge anyone. There would be no justice system. My point, as I very clearly stated, wasn't that we are saints and they are devils but that we are significantly better than most countries in regards to freedoms afforded individuals.
