mouseover or hover seem the same to me. With mouseover maybe it takes more resources, because you always have to have that image (say, 8 or 16 lines), even for users who don't use the feature, while with a click of some type, you pull it only on request - plus then you can keep track of how much the feature is used. Sort of like calculating the 10 (or n) most Active, %Up, %Down at all times compared to every 20 or 40 or 60 seconds during market hours and then "fixing" it until the next market day, so you don't need to calculate it for each (or for any frequent) request. I think mouseover is good for a second (and more) request from that user on a particular post display. This could be until the user goes to a new page, or time out after nn seconds, if resources used are significant. I do like the idea of interactivity that the user initiates (or that he thinks he does).
