Re: Strike Back Very Hard

Yes, but just what are the consequences of striking the Wrong Person???

1. The arguments that Saddam backed bin Laden are unconvincing at best. Osama and Saddam are different brands of Moslems, and actually dislike each other. Bin Laden's sympathetic comments on Iraq a while back were just to draw the US into conflict. Now he is sitting at the entrance to his cave snickering because two of his enemies are slugging it out. None of the 9/11 terrorists or their organizers were Iraqi. Strike back at Osama, sure! By all means. Unless of course it just might serve your purpose to leave this villain at large - to justify any other war effort you might have in mind.

2. Chemical weapons, or weapons of mass destruction - where are they? This was the other pretence to justify an attack on Iraq. One week into the war and none have appeared. The so-called chemical weapons factory discovered on the weekend, even the US military revised their report and said it was not that. If he had any WMD don't you think that he would have used them by now?

3. The only argument left is regime change. Clearly Saddam is a cruel, derranged megalomaniac who has gassed Iraqi people, built dozens of palaces for himself while his people are poor and sick, and he should be deposed. But is it worth sacrificing OUR boys to change THEIR leader. Let them do it themselves if they want to. It seems that in the last few days the attacks have made the Iraqis like their leader more not less.

Now back to "Strike Back Very Hard". If you are striking the wrong guy:
a) he is going to hate you;
b) all his friends are going to hate you;
c) the guy you should be striking is going to be laughing at both of you;
d) YOUR friends are not going to want to have anything to do with you.

War with Iraq is a poorly though out big mistake because it not reduce the risk of terrorism to US or US interests abroad.
