That view is simplistic. Evidently you have not explored the contents of all the links I have presented. But, of course, that is up to you. The God of the Old Testament is an angry and most revengeful God. In order to win converts, post O.T. proselytizers present the Christian G_d as the very antithesis of the O.T. G_d. The God of the New Testament is essentially a creation of Paul of Tarsus as is Hellfire and the Devil. Christianity as seen in the New Testament, beyond the superficial God-is-love-and- forgivenness bullshit, is essentially a sycretism of earlier religious elements (Judaism and Mithraism and an assortment of European paganisms).
