We had semi-effective UN inspections, inneffective sanctions, neighboring countries over there unwilling/unable to deal with the situation, Russia France and Germany ignoring the sanctions, Russia, France, and Germany doing everything they can to prevent their $$ client Saddam from being ousted.. Maybe these are some of the reasons. btw i'm not under the delusion that the world will be perfect if saddam and his gang are ousted. But his prior track record, his imperialistic ambitions, and his killing capabilities make him the priority.

Question for you Sal; do you think that Arab's in general are truly ready for peace with Israel? I agree with you that the Israel-Palestine issue must be solved soon. If we can get resolution of this issue, that would force the Middle East to look at their own failing societies. If it isn't solved soon, our security will be in perpetual jeopardy. In the past, the Arab world wanted all of Palestine back, exterminating Israel. IF Sharon stops his murder and UK/US kick Israel out of the illegal settlements, is the Arab world ready to let Israel exist and live in peace? If so, 2003 could be one hell of a year for the Middle East; Saddam gone, Arafat gone and establishment of Palestine. With Saddam out, one more source of financial support for suicide bombers will be gone. Saudi's might still be doing it but at least they aren't sticking their finger in the eye of the international community like Saddam has... I have problems with Bush but not for his principles. He is right on this issue, in my opinion. My problem is that he is not charismatic. You need to be right AND charismatic to be a great leader. We need a Tony Blair in the White House. Tony Blair is going to go down as the visionary leader of our era. You know, this Bush thing is somewhat akin to the OJ Simpson case. OJ was/is a criminal who obviously did it but the process of the LAPD went on trial. Bush is on trial despite the fact that Saddam is among the worst dictators in world history. Europe is more interested in criticizing Bush for his arrogance than justice for Saddam.
