Keeping our mouth shut is by far much better than calling them part of the axis of evil. The democratic forces already control the elected offices in Iran and have been steadily gaining strength. It's the judicial and security system that is controlled by the ayatollah's. The axis of evil speech probably set back the democratization process by a number of years.

Kyrosi and Sun make interesting points about the sensitivities of iranians. My suspicion is that they may be misreading what the iranians think when they were included in the axis. It may have made the mullahs nervous but it should have pointed out to the people that a change was required to have better relations with the US. I am not sure who is right in this. The same argument is used for the recent bellicosity of North Korea--that we put them in the axis. Should we just overlook the sale of wmd deliv systems in the NK case and the complicity of the iranians with terror both past and current? Again Sun has maintained i believe that the iran/hizbollah link is overplayed. My belief is that it is not. mike
