Paul,
Someone posed this question to me at breakfast this morning and i pass it along. Why arent the opponents of the war onboard now, with a quick US victory with minimal casualties seen as the best alternative? After Pearl Harbor, isolationists came onboard--their isolationist views not withstanding. Those folks never forgave FDR for getting us involved but realized that once involved the best possible outcome would be to win.
Isnt it possible to have been pro containment and now pro-quick US victory without changing ones fundamental view or moral opposition. mike
