Before a Palestinian state is possible, we first have to free the Palestinians from the rule of the many terrorist groups. Let's not forget that these terrorist groups wouldn't exist if it weren't, in part, for the support they receive from families who rely upon them for protection.. They serve several functions.. They are comparable to mafias, providing "protection", economic opportunity (in exchange for tribute), and political representation (against other groups).. And this is the only system they know.. It's the one that protects them, provides for them, and to whom they have declared loyalty.. They will not easily exchange the existing, if flawed and corrupt, system for another until they have more to lose by maintaining their current affiliations. Hawk@chickenoreggfirst?gov
