The fact is that you and your little pod of left wingers want to blame the US for all that is wrong.

And the problem is that you cannot even tell fact from opinion.

If the real issue between Iraq and Kuwait had to do with slant drilling, the subsequent military action and associated atrocities was completely uncalled for.

I would love to fill the gaps in your education and knowledge about history and world affairs in general, but I don't have the time. Read up. Google is your friend.

Sorry to break it to you like this but the real issue WAS Kuwait drilling into Iraq's reserves, as Doug also separately mentioned. Or did you think Saddam just woke up one morning and thought he ran out of Kurds to kill and so decided to organize a field day in Kuwait killing incubator babies???

If saddam believed that the US would do nothing because of a one liner from a diplomat, that was foolish.

Hello? Anybody there? Saddam conversed with the US Ambassador to Iraq and believed what she said. "One liner from a diplomat", indeed. If that was foolish, I hope you realize what that says about your government at the time and its representatives abroad.

It is plausible that he might have been better off making his point by blowing up an oil field on the Kuwait side of the Iraqi border and not taking over the country.

Huh? What point would THAT make???

And I really think you mean "set fire to" rather that "blow up". I hope. With the understanding that oil reserves don't blow up but sort of burn, a fire that can be put out with relative ease?
