Thomas and Frank,

Based on the data collected in my thread surveys, I believe Frank is right that Gemstar appeared to be a widely-held issue and Thomas is right that there was no consensus about its Gorillaness. In my opinion, a significant number of thread members used little discipline in determining whether or not Gemstar was a Gorilla. That's based on the many people who acknowledged that though Gemstar had not enjoyed a tornado (and thus, by definition it could not possibly have been a Gorilla), they still believed it was a Gorilla.

My investment in Gemstar has been exceptionally disappointing, but my investment was never, ever based on any thinking that Gemstar was a Gorilla.
