U.S. intelligence indicates "major column" of Iraqi Republican Guard troops with 1,000 vehicles heading south from Baghdad toward U.S. forces near Najaf, sources tell CNN's Walter Rodgers, embedded with the 3rd Infantry Division. Full story soon.

The only logic of moving armored units out of Baghdad is that they are being destroyed just sitting there.

Iraq has the worst sandstorms in decades. All US attack copters are grounded and will be until the storm is over. Laser guided weapons don't work well in sandstorms either and GPS guided weapons are for fixed targets not moving targets.

If there was any time to pick a counter attack, this is it.
