Jacob,

I agree with part of your projection. I would say, the road map will never be implemented until the Palestinians give 'right of return' (to Israel, that is) and start behaving like a state instead of a gang of thugs, and that will never happen while Arafat lives and all the Arabs keep enabling and funding their behaving like thugs. Perhaps enhaced US presence in the region will allow the US to excert leverage over the Arabs as well as the Israelis.

The real problem is that the Palestinians are locked in self-destructive behavior, and the Israelis are locked into occupation because experience has taught them that efforts at negotiation and withdrawal lead to more Israeli deaths, not fewer. Until the Palestinians come under new management, I don't see this changing.

This assertion however is silly:

1. separate the Jewish and Muslim populations (this process will be completed when any hostile Muslims on the "wrong" side of the Wall are moved)

There are over one million Arab citizens of Israel and nobody is talking about moving them. The proposed wall includes about 3000 more Arabs. What's 3000 to a million?
