I am arguing that we should pursue the cheapest and most effective solution which is in our self interest . Whose job do you think that is? > The House of Saud is responsible for their country Says who? Many Saudis would say the House of Saud is totally irresponsible and not fit for the job. They want to change that. But guess what, we don't let them. You can only argue your logic if we were not involved and the Arabs were free to choose whatever government they want. But we have been involved and continue to be. Kuwait is another good example. How do you know that if we had not freed Kuwait over time somebody would not have risen out their people to win it back and eventually form a government dedicated to it people? But risking that was not in our favor. Since we restored the monarchy there, we share some of the blame for what they do. > The mayor of Kabul ? Yes, he goes around by the name Karzai and likes to be called president. But nobody listens to him outside of Kabul, so he is really just the mayor. > You seem to make excuses; Excuses for whom? Go back to my original post. I said it is in our best interest to see to it that Middle East is educated and modernized. It has nothing to do with humanitarian view. Consider the cost of this war in Afghanistan (which by the way is not really over yet). Then consider the cost of little schools, seeds to the farmers, and other aids. Then tell me which is cheaper. This may be news to you, but when people are happy they don't go joining radical groups. > The United States is not responsible for every person on this earth nor are we to blame for all their problems. You don't seem to get it. We do not live in vacuum; we are part of this world. It is completely immaterial if we made those messes or not. As such we share whatever problems exist in this world. If we don't like those problems, we have no choice but to fix them. Now we can either exterminate half of the world population or be in a perpetual state of war here and there, or we can help the rest of the world catch up so that we as Americans who also happen to be inhabitants of this planet have an easier life. If you have a more cost effective solution bring it up. Sun Tzu PS this is as good as I can explain it. So if you are still unclear about my reasoning or think that I am making excuses or whatever, we just have to agree to disagree.
