Actually, a lot of them see us as untrustworthy liberators. After the first Gulf War, a huge popular uprising was squashed because no help from the West arrived.

Now with the war and all of the negative anticipation leading up to it, there's probably little more than despair in the hearts and minds of Iraqis. Not to mention a decade of sanctions from the U.N. and brutality from Saddam and his two sons. It's sad.
