I remember my cousin getting polio on pei in the 50's.. It left her without use of her arm & shoulder... She under went some 11/12 operations over several years to rehabilitate the arm... I could never understand how this family with 13 children could afford it.. Later I found out about social benefits. Had another cousin get some strange infection in her leg. No one in the area could counter the problem.. The social program I guess covered her coming to Mass Gen Hosp for further evaluation and she stayed with us for a few weeks while we took her in for treatments each day..
So I do not knock the Canada program.. see ya
ps I have no idea of what the situations are today or the costs.
