Just out of curiosity: why isn't Ebay a King?

AMZN is clear: book selling as a category is larger than AMZN and BKS is doing at least the same amount of business.

Yahoo is also clear: I am not sure they sell anything. :-)

But Ebay seems to pretty much own the auction category and due to the network effects they can maintain the lead forever. AMZN is working nice with its book/software marketplace, but it is limited by AMZNs listed products, while I don't think anyone uses AMZNs auctions.

Unless you argue that auctions is not a category and I can buy everything Ebay sells somewhere else, so it's not a valid King domination. :-)
